Is it a bad idea to have traditional and other flashes on the same arm?

I was talking to a friend about what I would love to have and I told them that I love traditional but I also love other artists with their unique flashes but they told me they once I have a traditional tattoo it is "weird" to have other styles mixed on the same arm.

On the same note he told me that once I go color I should stick with it instead of having Color and B&W tattoos.
