How to host a server on my pc for sk launcher

For the record me and my friend are both on sk launcher and I'm tried of using aternos since it has been a horrible experience these past few months with extreme server lag and the other friend not being able to join at all despite having good internet. I wanna know how to host a server on my own pc without the need for server hosting sites! I tried downloading the minecraft server file alongside forge and I even made a tunnel on playit.gg but after doing all that when I tried joining the server using the shared ip from playit.gg, I keep getting the connection timeout error with GETSOCKOPT. I even tried setting the online mode to false in the server properties but still nothing, is there anything else that I can do to make this work. I just want something that works and literally anything is better than aternos at this point
