The World: The capital of Askanya is an impregnable citadel of grey stone, ruled by Faith in the One God and the iron will of the patricians. But beneath its high walls lies the "Stone Gut" — a festering wound on the city's body. A labyrinth of alleys where the sun is never seen, the air thick with forge-smoke and the stench of stagnant water, and the only law is the law of the strongest. Here, only those willing to fight for it every single day survive.

The Street Fighters: In the Gut, strength is currency. Street fighters are its chief earners. They are not soldiers or knights. They are a product of desperation and filth. Their arena is dirty backyards, abandoned warehouses, and underground fighting pits. Their armor is rough leather and hardened fists. Their fame is fleeting, their lives short. They fight for money, for respect, for the right not to be trampled. The luckiest and cruelest gather gangs around them, becoming informal kings of their gloomy districts. Their code is simple: might makes right, betrayal is punished by death, and your crew is the only family you'll ever have.

From this gloom emerges a contradiction. Espen is a splash of gold in the grey—slim, agile, with hair the colour of sun-bleached sand and eyes like pale, sharp flint. He moves with a dancer's grace, a red scarf often tucked carelessly at his throat. To the guttersnipes and brawlers, he's "Golden Locks," the quick-tongued jester and swiftest knife in Bastian's crew, a fighter who relies on wit and speed where others use brute force.

But his easy smile is a masterful disguise. Espen is a ghost of gilded halls. He is Lord Espen DeVray, the runaway heir to a noble house, hiding from the suffocating world of silks and sermons. Every laugh is measured, every clever remark a shield. He carries the constant, cold fear of discovery—a single slip of a polished word, a recognised mannerism, could see him dragged back to his gilded cage or make him a pariah in the only place that feels real.
