Feature wishlist for 3rd party aircraft devs
What existing features/functions from already released aircraft would you like to see combined into new aircraft as more are released? Each plane dev seems to have one or two fairly exclusive things that they do better than anyone else, and it would be amazing if they could all be brought together to make addons even better.
For example:
From the Fenix:
- The external EFB and FMC. It's been tried before but they really nailed it with ease of use and responsiveness.
- Fan blade icing. (Really caught me out when they added it.)
- GSX integration such as preparing for pushback when beacon is turned on.
From PMDG:
- Odd one this, as it's more of an "I wish you wouldn't do this!" really, but put all the various settings in the EFB instead of the bloody FMC!
From (ugh!) FSLabs:
- MEL and aircraft aging. I don't own it, but it sounds intriguing.
From the Leonardo Maddog:
- Being able to click and drag various things like the chart lists in the EFB as opposed to using tiny little clickspots or scrollbars. The way they handle Simbrief PDF flighplans is great too, breaking them into bookmarked sections instead of one long document.
- Though I haven't needed to use it yet, the ability to report tech issues and failure and request maintenance. Doubles up with the FSLabs entry, but I don't know which works better.
- Great manual! Really detailed and explains all the systems as well as providing a well-structured operating manual.
From IniBuilds:
- All the little things you can do in walkaround mode, such as operating the cargo doors.
From Heatblur:
- A DCS thing as opposed to MSFS, but it could prove to be a nice feature, their F4 Phantom has an in-sim manual which allows you to click an instrument or control and have that part of the manual displayed. Great if you're new to FS or if you're learning a complex aircraft.
From nobody at all yet:
- Documentation that lists ALL the various custom LVARS so that we don't have to spend hours hunting for the right variable to use with software like SPAD.next when we want to bind a button to control something like the APU.
From FS2Crew:
- AI copilot included with the aircraft to handle things like checklists, runway entry procedures, cleanup after landing etc.
Anyone else got any? Anything you disagree with and think someone else does better? If devs could come together to implement all of this stuff into a single plane I think it would be amazing.
