ARK classic or Ascended?

My friends and I are switching up the game we usually play together after many BGIII play throughs and I suggested ARK because I had a blast playing it a few years ago by self and thought we’d all have a laugh getting arked

But now with ARK Ascended out (which I’ve never played) I wasn’t sure if we should all get the classic or if we should all grab ascended?

Is it much different than the OG?

What’s your recommendations?
