EGR delete or emissions tune

For those of you with EDs in places where emissions are inspected did you even bother with a EGR delete? I have a 14 grand cherokee with 133k miles and it's been great. I'd love to delete the EGR and save this car from impending doom but I live in the St Louis area and am forced to do an emissions check for registration. I've been going back and forth with the GDE compliant tune or a stage 1 from MR. Either way neither would probably fix my glow plug #1 not wanting to back out fully and I'll have to get creative for the emissions check when it is due next year
