Theory for the finale 🕵

discussion

I commented this on another post, and I thought maybe it seemed sort of nuts but a few people seemed to agree so I thought I would post it here to discuss! I'm honestly so full of nervous energy for tomorrow, I need a distraction anyway.

I think that El being set up to sacrifice herself is a misdirect. It's way too obvious and I really can't see how people are falling for this on other forums. I personally believe Will is going to attempt to sacrifice himself. The photo has been shared widely of Will staring at the wormhole and the X over his heart. Will has also broken down several times this season about how he believes this is all his fault.

Robin's little pep talks throughout the season with Will have set up several things. #1- Accept yourself (Robin explains how it wasn't about anyone else, it was about her). Will did this and unlocked the ability to siphon Henry's powers. #2- Come out to someone. (Robin explains how she came out to Steve and it gave her the courage to talk to Vic). Will does this and it gives him the strength for the final battle (and the courage for his self-sacrifice).

Will obviously downplayed how he feels about Mike. He is the love of his life. Will explained to his Mom how he used memories of love to fight back, but Henry found a loophole and showed him the most terrible things. I believe one of the things he showed Will was him torturing and/or killing Mike. Will thought that if he downplayed his feelings, pretended it was nothing more than a fleeting crush, Henry will leave Mike alone, leaving Will free during the final battle to focus on his sacrifice (which is believes needs to happen to ultimately end everything since he is connected to the hivemind).

I believe that they are setting up for Mike, "Mike the BRAVE" to finally have to confront his feelings for Will. This is where we will get Finn's emotional scenes, Mike's monologue, it will not be to El, it will be to Will, when he believes he is about to die. This will be the final key to unlocking Will's true power and strength. It has been beaten to death that Will is a sorcerer and his powers are innate. How many times has Mike said this? And every time Will sort of shrugs it off and says he isn't really a sorcerer. Spoiler alert: He is. Mike the Brave, the heart of the party, the fcking dungeon master himself, is the key to unlocking Will's full powers as a sorcerer (NOT simply siphoning from Henry).

Anyway, sorry for the long read. That's my opinion on that plot line. I am not super familiar with the play, and those story lines, so maybe someone who is could tie it all together?
