We're not getting an Eclipse Subclass, but....
So, there's a lot of talk about possibly getting an Eclipse Subclass based of the Not Death Star from Renegades. Lore wise, the "element" is an antiparacasual tool utilized almost exclusively by The Nine and their lackeys (iirc). I feel Guardians using a tool that tears apart their soul and strips their powers from them wouldn't go too well in the grand scheme of things and brings things like Crucible lore consistency into scrutiny.
That being said, I do believe that the Eclipse could be a catalyst for what I believe will be the next subclass (if there is one at all) will be. In conflict with XI or one of the other Nine against us, they can utilize Eclipse to possibly shut down an area (similar to the radial mast) that we can't enter in our current state, forcing us to look towards a new subclass: Kinetic.
Using the power of experimental anti-light tech (that seems to pop up in lore a bit recently), we can cloak our paracausality at the cost of being unable to use our current powers. We can then use more technical things like transmatting in our grenades and Supers, which would be more grounded technology instead of the space magic we typically use.
While Eclipse is the reason I think thematically we would use Kinetic, the amount of Kinetic related perks being added to weapons with Renegades makes me think that Bungie is doing a retroactive approach to adding Kinetic. This is where there is already weapon synergies for subclass verbs included in the sandbox instead of drip-feeding weapons and perks over the seasons like the other subclasses. This approach would have Kinetic be comparable to other subclasses on launch.
With all that being said, I'm 99% sure that Bungie would put out the final 3 aspects for Void/Solar before putting out a new subclass.
