Career pivot to Automation and Business Operations

Hello all,

I"m after some advice or eager to learn of your experience. I recently queried Gemini with my career pain points in SaaS customer success, discovering I've been barking up the wrong tree; the suggestion was I'm more aligned to solving business issues with data and optimizing operations, which I've done in every past role and really enjoy.

I recently started working on an automation piece for a local business and really enjoy it, and feel this is my calling. So I'm wanting to help small businesses streamline their operations and automate their tech stack (though I understand every business is different and automation is just a set of tools).

I've started with Make, though am aware of n8n and the capabilities. Also I'm working my way through an Agentic workflows course from Nick Saraev.

My questions:

  • Have you made a change into this field, and where did you come from?

  • Have you gone out alone, how did you get your first clients?

  • How have you found this experience, what are your pain points if any?

  • What learning free/low cost resources have you used to upskill?

Thanks! 🤓
