[Scholar pot build] does having a stack of throwing knives is a more optimal dps ?

Is it worth sacrificing a stack of grenades for throwing knives because of the defense debuff? From what I’ve tested in theory, it’s better, you do more damage, your team does more damage, but you have to manage the stacks, cooldowns, and not miss your throws and sacrifice a stack of grenades. Yet every time I play with a Scholar, they never use the knives. Am I wrong?
Also, I don’t play with increased throwing knife damage.
