Just need to vent

I almost became Program manager, lasted all pods and assessments, gelled with the team well and other sr leadership as well. Felts really good. I was recently told due to a person already in the role wanted to move closer to home, the role is gone. I’m not mad, I get it, but I won’t deny I’m a bit discouraged and disappointed. Kind of hurts as this was a dream role for me. I’m ok with operations, but I almost had something that was perfect for me. Hiring managers was honest with me, she wasn’t tracking anyone wanted to use the role transfer back closer to home. Heck she even let me know she really wants me on her team, and is trying to get another req open as her territory grew significantly. I’m not mad just disappointed as I didn’t lose out to skillset or merit, just tenure essentially. I don’t know, I just wanted to vent so yea.
