M22 Relationship ended due to family pressure + lack of independence — struggling with no-contact despite mutual love

I’m 22M. I was in a serious relationship (around 1 year) with someone I genuinely love. The breakup wasn’t due to cheating, loss of feelings, or toxicity. It happened mainly because of external circumstances — heavy family interference, cultural pressure, and the fact that I’m still financially dependent and don’t yet have the power to stand my ground.

There was also a family betrayal that escalated things, but I’m intentionally not focusing on blame. I’m trying to understand how to move forward rather than relive what went wrong.

The core issue was that I couldn’t give her real certainty or timelines, and I didn’t want to keep her in false hope. Despite still caring deeply for each other, we chose to end the relationship because the situation wasn’t viable right now.

Since the breakup, I’ve been maintaining no-contact and keeping myself busy, but emotionally it’s been very difficult. I get strong urges to reach out, waves of grief (especially at night), and my mind keeps looping on “maybe when things change.” Logically, I understand that holding onto future-based hope can be unhealthy, but emotionally it’s hard to let go.

My specific question:
For people who’ve ended relationships due to circumstances rather than lack of love — what actually helped you get through the first few weeks without breaking no-contact or staying stuck in “maybe someday” thinking?

TL;DR:
22M, 1-year relationship ended due to family pressure and lack of independence, not lack of love. Practicing no-contact but struggling with urges to reach out and future-based hope. Looking for practical advice on how to move forward without reopening the wound.
