**In sea folklore**:

\- Davy Jones is the master of the deep: immortal, unable to live on land, ruler of the abyss.

\- Calypso is the Goddess of the sea.

\- The Kraken is the force that drags ships down and creates whirlpools.

**In One Piece:**

**- Imu fills the role of Calypso**.

**- Davy D. Jones made a contract with Imu**, gaining immortality, and thus living until the current times. He now wanders the seas endlessly, which fits perfectly with him being …. *the Man Marked by Flames!!*

\- **The Kraken connection also works**. Either the Kraken is a Sea King that answers to him. Or — better — Davy Jones ate a Kraken Devil Fruit, allowing him to create whirlpools and sink ships at will.

**The story:**

Davy D. Jones was a former King, and Rocks stated. Maybe the King of the Ancient Kingdom.

Somehow, he made a contract with Imu. Maybe to what Harald did.

And he’s the one who stole the last Road Poneglyph from the sea, from Fishmen Island.

And if that’s the case, **maybe the clash for the last Poneglyph will be a Davy Back Fight.**

*PS - a further thought:*

If the Ancient Kingdom was once a single landmass (a Pangea), and later split into smaller islands, then Davy Jones’ “home” is just every island. This could tie directly into the Domi Reverse / “home” theory: maybe he can’t return to land because his ”home” is every island.
