The Christmas Party

A couple people I've chatted with have heard about this so I might as well go into detail I suppose!

We got invited to a Christmas party by a friend of mine. Just a few friends, and some drinks. This friend of mine and her husband both smoke, and they smoke in their house. She's a pretty heavy smoker and I haven't seen her in a few months, but I haven't seen her husband in a year but I remembered her telling me he has COPD and it's pretty obvious it's gotten pretty bad. When he coughed it sounded like mine, and he used his inhaler a lot more than I remember. My friend wasn't in much better shape, as she smoked and the night went on she used her inhaler too, and was also coughing, her laugh became more congested, and at times I could hear her wheeze.

Several hours into the night I was drunk, and all of us smokers there had hit our inhalers numerous times. A haze filled the living room. I smoked at least 10 cigarettes on top of the pack I'd already smoked that day. Normally a busy day of smoking for my poor lungs is about a pack and a half, and I smoked nearly two packs thanks to my friends!

I don't remember this part, but my daughter told me at one point my friend's husband and I were having coughing fits at the same time, and my friend joked she couldn't tell us apart. Thinking about it now, I wonder if I'll still be the only one on oxygen next year...
