I'm hesitant to get BG3 as a DOS2 player

As a DOS2 player, I'm seriously considering BG3

Hi everyone, I have a quick question for you. I recently played DOS2, which was my first CRPG. I love so many things about the game, especially the side content. Even though it feels a bit messy at times, I loved the puzzles and how ingenious the gameplay can be. However, I have some reservations about BG3 because I found the exploration in DOS2 a bit lacking. You often don't know what to do, and honestly, if I hadn't looked at guides, I would have missed so much. Is the exploration better in BG3? And is the side content just as good (I imagine it’s better, but I’d like your opinion)? Thanks to everyone who replies!
