Why do they unblock you?

So after discarding you, why would they unblock you? I noticed last night that my ex unblocked me and viewed my public snapchat story. This obviously triggered me, but I blocked them immediately. Before he discarded me, he threw it in my face that he met someone and that their relationship was more meaningful.

Prior to that, he was treating me so horribly and everything was escalating. Would this be considered a reverse discard? Seeing as he most likely fucked up whatever new connection he had, he unblocked me in hopes that I would reach out?
