Breaking into IT in Seattle as a new grad from Yakima — looking for advice

Recommendations

Hey Seattle, I’m finishing my bachelor’s degree in IT this April and currently live in Yakima. I’ve got a family, and I’m trying to build a stable, long-term career that lets me actually provide for them. The tough part is there just aren’t many IT opportunities where I live, especially anything with growth potential. I’ve been looking at Seattle-based companies and roles (IT support, cloud support, infrastructure, etc.) and trying to figure out the most realistic way to break in — whether that’s applying remotely, targeting certain companies or roles, or building the right experience before making a move. For folks working in tech or IT in Seattle: what would you recommend as the smartest path for someone in my position? Are there specific entry-level roles, companies, or skills that tend to open doors here? I’m not looking for handouts — just honest advice from people who’ve been in the industry and know how the Seattle tech market actually works. Appreciate any insight. Thanks.
