Why didn’t Russia conduct a similar operation against Ukraine in 2022, that the United States did against Venezuela in 2026
The Russian military conducted a large scale invasion with over 100,000 troops with the objective of regime change in 2022.
With Russia having superior air power and plenty of special operators I was thinking that it would have been far more ideal for regime change if they just kidnapped Zelensky. Then inserted or supported their own leadership from the opposition.
It just seems this would have been better than conducting a traditional assault on the capital and then it flopping. Now leading to what will soon to be 4 years of war.
