Passed Today

Passed the SIE today (January 3). Used the Kaplan basic plan. Followed through each chapter and did the chapter and review exams in order. Got to the last chapter before breaking off and taking one practice exam. In total about 35 hours of studying over the last month, planned to do more but the holiday season made it difficult. Some takeaways:

  1. Spending more time reviewing the first half of the Kaplan book to set foundations helped me immensely.

  2. I found the test questions to be a little different than the Kaplan questions. Might be wise to take an actual FINRA practice test to familiarize.

  3. I felt that anywhere from 3-6 questions were not covered in the Kaplan material. Perhaps they were briefly touched on and I just missed it or they were in the last chapter that I did not read.

That is all, hope this is helpful to those looking to take the exam.
