My boyfriend got extremely drunk and groped women at a party – should I leave?

My best friends (whom I’ve known for over 10 years and trust deeply) were recently at a festival, where later on my new boyfriend (m27) also joined. I (w27) was sick and therefore couldn’t go. He kept saying that he wouldn’t stay long anyway because he had to work the next day. Around midnight I received a selfie of everyone together, and the next day my boyfriend told me that he went home right after the photo.

Then my friends told me that my boyfriend was very — really very — drunk and extremely touchy. He groped all of them, and even put his hand under the skirt of a other friend of them. Later on, he was actually thrown out by security. And this all happened much later than the time he told me he went home. He probably doesn’t remember anything from that night because he drank so much.

I am angry, shocked, and above all sad that such a kind person could suddenly behave so badly out of nowhere. I was single for over five years because you mostly meet only a**** out there — and then I met this guy who proved the opposite to me. And now, after this incident, I feel stupid and naive again for believing that everything was perfect.

I now see two options:

1. Give him one last chance and make it very clear in a serious conversation that if something like this ever happens again, it’s over between us.
2. End the relationship immediately, because my trust in him is already badly damaged, and touching women without their consent is absolutely unacceptable to me — even if it happened while he was completely drunk.
