About that duet-duel in Ep 17
It was a crucial point for the plot, of course, but besides the performance, the meta commentary by Mike on Charly and Yeimy's chemistry caught my attention. Mike knows. Cata knows. Juancho knows. Everyone knows. The undeniable connection the two of them share is visible both in and outside of the show's universe. Along with the narrative that binds the two of them, I see Yeimy and Charly as twin flames in the artistic sense too. He, be it through love or hatred, became her muse and the inspiration for her songs and she, by annihilating his former narcissistic self and humbling him, brought out the musician that lay buried and ignored within him. No wonder when the two finally faced each other on stage, they were able to compliment each other stunningly. As if they were always meant to be together like this but for some reason or the other, it had been delayed until now.
Hats off to the casting director, by the way.
Apart from the main triad, I am curious to see where the Erik/Irma subplot is heading to. I find myself understanding both Erik and Irma here and can't pick a side. As overwhelming the recent circumstances are for Erik, it is not easy for Irma either. She took a difficult but essential decision for her career and then her dad's problems seem to be resurfacing. Meanwhile, the powers that be in the novela verse aren't ready to let them recover in peace because you have Drama Key for a potential love triangle. But, I hope the Hurricane and the Dragon make it through this challenge and emerge stronger than before.
