I open-sourced a lightweight realtime server I built specifically to work alongside Next.js apps.

It uses Socket.IO + JWT, keeps auth in your Next.js backend, and focuses on being simple:

• no user management
• no database dependency
• role/permission-based access via JSON config

You can use it for chat, notifications, presence, or activity feeds.
