Honestly, how engrossing is FFX for someone who enjoys more traditional high fantasy?

I'm looking to try Final Fantasy X . I've always heard it's one of the best in the series but never had a chance to play it. Over the years, I've seen gameplay and videos and was a bit tuned off by Titus and the overall look of the game.

I love the more medieval games like 2, 4 and 16. I'm not too into the sci-fi ones.

FF10 has a look that almost seems to stradle the line of medieval and sci-fi?

But my question is, as someone who typically enjoys more traditional high fantasy settings, will I enjoy the characters, story and setting of FF10? Is Titus deeper than he appears?

I'd genuinely want to hear from people who both enjoyed and didn't enjoy FF10.
