I give up! Need the experts!
I apologize first if this question is exactly posted here already but here we go. I am in my late 40s. Gamer since day one. I have recently decided to be able to play the NES, SNES, Genesis and TG-16 on my Samsung CRT that has up to component. I want a nostalgic experience meaning a great picture along with at least controllers matching what they looked like. Without thinking I quickly bought online the nes and snes mini classic and was planning to simply buy a hdmi to component cable and call it a day. Not happening! I like the classics due to the authentic look and the fact of save states. My first question is buying a scaler here solve my problem of using these classics on my CRT? I read it might add latency? Is it that bad and ruins the experience? If thats an idea which scaler and I understand RCAs is the best option for 240p. If NOT, what next? I did the pi many times but feel I need the FPGA experience now. I never did the Mister route yet. I also was looking at using original hardware with a EverDrive cart. However I then think these units cant last forever and maybe I should just start over now and go with some fpga device? Please help! 😁
