Protesting Outside of US Churches

There are only 2 churches in my immediate area that stay pretty chill. Further away, however, there are 2 megachurches that have been rumored to slip right-wing political messaging into their lies about religion. Sometimes the messaging is blatant. If potential political events cause the need for protest I'm quite ready to do so, Here's how I imagine it would go:

  1. Secure permitting prior to the event. A well organized event by responsible people sends a more powerful message. You are not allowed on church property.

  2. Be respectful. It's the leadership you are protesting not the parishioners. You don't want to come across on the local news channel like one of those nasty anti-abortion protestors. You are representing the cause of rational thought and secular freedom.

  3. Taxes and money are fair game. So is the truth, including lies and manipulation. Evidence obviously is fair game. Whatever your reasons are for being atheist are legitimate, again, just be respectful.

  4. Expect violence. Someone may try to run you over or pull out a firearm on you. They may even discharge it. Remember....there is no hate like Christian love.
