It's All Relative... and I'm Grateful to Notice!

As I ready for a fun trip to Orange County, California next week where I'll visit great friends for 12 days (I lived there from 2009 - 2022), I'll attend 7 in-person GA meetings during the trip as well as two Mexico-based virtual ones on Zoom that I chair each Thursday. 9 meetings in 12 days... That may sound like a lot to some, even excessive maybe. I mean is this guy just addicted to Gamblers Anonymous now? HA! :) Maybe... It is one principal tool, along with MANY others, that I use to live a happy gambling-free life way beyond the scope of the gamble/don't gamble paradigm. And... let's be honest, vs. when I was gambling, the time it will take me to attend these 9 meetings, travel included, will only amount to about the time I used to spend destroying myself on just one longggggg Sunday of sports betting, starting with the obsessive and fallacious "researching of games" to "watching" them like a zombie until midnight, not to mention the emotional hangover that would often persist for hours and days afterward. It's all relative and I am GRATEFUL that after going to hell, I made a fateful U-Turn many years ago. YOU CAN TOO! The first step is reaching out to someone who "has what you want," as many 12-Steppers call it, and then admitting that YOUR WAY is not working. Have a great day! Sal G.
