Encore Alaska WiFi

For my Encore Alaska cruise I have the option to upgrade to the Voyage WiFi pass for $140 or the Streaming Voyage for $210. I doubt I'll actually be streaming anything but I have a senior dog who will be with a sitter so I'd like to be able to be contacted in case of any emergencies. Would the regular voyage be reliable enough or should I get the streaming? Also with these packages are iPhone text messages easily received or could there still be issues?
