Help with awkward living room layout — former yoga studio turned apartment

Living Room

Hi everyone! I recently went through a breakup and am living on my own again. I’m staying in my parents’ second home and paying rent, but the space was originally an old yoga/Pilates studio, so the layout isn’t very “living-room friendly.”

We moved my things in quickly, so it’s definitely a bit of a mishmash right now. I’m also on a budget and still need to add some furniture, but I want to be intentional about placement before buying anything else.

Some layout challenges: • The fireplace is off-center (so I’ve been told it probably shouldn’t be the focal point) • There’s a hallway that runs through the center of the space, which makes floating furniture tricky • The couch can’t really go in the middle of the room • I’m open to moving the TV — and even the A/C unit if needed • I just bought a small loveseat and want to make it work

My goal is to create a cozy, farmhouse-inspired vibe, but my main priority right now is functional furniture placement so the space feels comfortable and livable.

I’d really appreciate any advice on layout, zoning the space, or what furniture to prioritize first. Thank you so much in advance — I could really use the help right now 🤍
