Rosacea and fatty liver
I'm a 53-year-old man. I'll try to keep this short: Around 2020, I started developing melasma on my cheeks and rosacea on my forehead, along with some pigment spots on my temples and upper cheeks. Around 2023, I had at least three laser sessions for the rosacea, in addition to Finacea (without much success for the rosacea). My dermatologist prescribed a cream for the melasma. Since 2021, I've been applying sunscreen to my face daily.
In 2025, my doctor ordered an ultrasound to check my kidneys. Everything was fine with my kidneys, but the technician was able to measure the fat on my liver. The diagnosis was fatty liver – I found out around September 2025. Since then, I've been drinking much less alcohol and have started working out, resulting in fat loss and muscle gain. At the end of 2025, I had a blood test to calculate my AST/ALT ratio (liver). My doctor gave me the results just before Christmas. My liver is doing much better, and I'm now in a monitoring zone, not a zone that requires treatment. She told me, "Keep doing what you're doing because it's working." I was very happy to hear that.
Since I started the fat loss process, I've noticed that my rosacea, which had resisted everything, has practically disappeared from my forehead. Of course, I have my morning and evening routine (mainly Korean products):
Morning:
1- Aveeno Ultra Calm Soap;
2- Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl - e11ment);
3- Centella Madagascar (skin1004);
4- Finacea (forehead only);
5- Purito Bamboo;
6- BOF Joseon SPF 50.
Evening:
1- Ginseng Cleansing Oil (to remove sunscreen)
2- Aveeno Ultra Calm Soap;
3- Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl - E11ment);
4- Centella Madagascar (skin1004);
5- Finacea (forehead only);
6- Prescription cream for melasma on cheeks;
7- Purito Bamboo;
Whenever I leave the gym, or if I feel a burning sensation on my face, I use Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl).
I don't really have before and after photos, but wow, my skin has never looked so good. My dark spots have disappeared, and only stubborn melasma remains, but very little compared to 2023.
My conclusion: if your skin isn't doing well, it's probably related to your overall health. In my case, probably related to my fatty liver...
