Let’s Be Honest TVD Fans Rewrite History for Their Faves
I’m rewatching The Vampire Diaries and I need to say this honestly. A lot of the fandom rewrites history when it comes to their favorite characters. People will tear Elena apart for the smallest things but will twist themselves into knots to excuse genuinely awful behavior as long as the character is attractive or tragic. And yes this applies to Damon. It applies to Klaus. It even applies to Stefan. Liking a character does not mean they were right and the show was way more interesting when it stopped pretending they were. What made TVD work was that the characters were selfish, cruel, impulsive, and emotionally messy. Once every bad decision started getting justified by trauma or fate or having no choice it lost some of that bite. You do not need moral purity for good storytelling. So here is the real question. Who do you defend even though you know their behavior was terrible and why. And please do not just say they were misunderstood unless you are ready to actually explain it.
