Disclosing drunk accident with Employer

Location: Michigan

Experienced a recent crash into public property (pole) while intoxicated. Ambulance and cops both arrived. Was placed in jail for a few hours night of accident.

I’m worried about how this will impact my employment - when and how should I disclose this incident?

Our “employee handbook” states that “employees must immediately notify HR of any changes or infractions on their driving record. This includes tickets, accidents, license suspension, and revocations.”

Does this mean I must disclose this incident immediately? Or would it be acceptable for me to disclose it once a decision has been made in court? (happening in a couple of months)

This is a first time offense. Thank you so much for any advice or help you can provide.
