My Prediction About Season 2 was Correct
After season 1, I predicted that season 2 would get more hate than season 1.
Why?
Because season 2 is doing to New Vegas what season 1 did to Fallout 1 and 2.
During season 1, the show was generally well received by the fandom with a vocal minority that didn’t like it.
It seems like with season 2, the criticism has gotten louder.
Part of that is New Vegas fans being New Vegas fans, but part of it is New Vegas fans realizing what the show is doing.
The majority of the people here have not played Fallout 1 and 2. That’s just the reality of it. The numbers from sales stats and from Steam’s player counts support that. So the majority of fans don’t have a frame of reference to understand how the show relates to the games it supplants.
But New Vegas was and still is quite a bit more popular than 1 or 2. And so the complaints of New Vegas fans are the same complaints of the small cadre of 1 and 2 fans. The complaints are just gaining more purchase in the fandom.
And if you like the show, great. This isn’t itself a criticism of the show. Just an observation that Bethesda has treated the series differently than Interplay or Obsidian and is trying to break with that past. Whether you think that’s good or bad is a value judgement for you to make.
