Moving from private daycare/preschool to public preschool
I have a newly 3 year old and his private daycare class expanded to 20 kids:2 adults. He’s learning so much but they complained that he gets overwhelmed easily. On his first day after the winter break, he was very overwhelmed with the amount of kids in the class. He is speech delayed but currently on speech therapy and improving with sentences. But when he’s overwhelmed, he shuts down and keeps to himself.
We saw our town study team yesterday to see if we can get more help (maybe OT ?). Of note, he’s already on weekly OT but out of pocket and can’t afford more OT hours. They don’t come to the daycare and it’s based on office. Long story short, the child study team interacted with him and assessed him. He was interacting well and speaking tons, so they told us he doesn’t qualify for any services. But offered our town’s integrated preschool and they have smaller classes (8 kids:2 adults). I spoke to other parents and loved it there . Should I move him there even though they won’t provide any services? Maybe a smaller size class will help my son and hopefully thrive better? Thank you in advance. Just worried FTM (only child)
