Can I use face seek results to help identify a hit and run driver?

i got a clear pic of a guy who hit my car in a parking lot and just drove off. i used faceseek on the photo and found his name and where he works in about 30 seconds. i want to give this to the officers handling my case, but i’m worried if me investigating him myself will mess up the evidence or if it’s considered an invasion of privacy. should i just hand over the name i found or let them start from scratch? i don't want to overstep but i really want this guy held accountable.
