[M4F][M4M] It's Good to Be King
The crowd was cheering before the gate even opened. The King's armor was resplendent, freshly polished and glimmering on one of London's rare sunny days. It had been a turbulent year. The death of my father. The coronation. The death of my wife giving birth to my fifth and, sadly last son. France's declaration of war and invasion of Caen.
But hard times made hard men or proved one's who already were. The gates flung open, and my beautiful white stallion, Vagabond galloped through them. The roar of the crowd was immense. The chants, "King Julian!" rained down on me. Somehow the Herald could be heard above all of it.
"Hail, King Julian the First, King of England, King of Wales, King of Scotland, King of Ireland" He paused before the most recent title, "and King of France!" The crowd roared again. I gripped Vagabond's reins, remembering my victory. The poor fool had agreed to single combat, me against him for his crown. It wasn't a mistake, I had hidden an army in his rear and he surely would have lost the battle.
But I was the most fearsome single combatant in the world. My spies had determined the exact width and length of the eye slits of his armor. I had a blade forged for just that purpose. His attacks were obvious, dodge left, dodge back, parry, thrust, done. Just like that the war was over. Is it any wonder they wanted to celebrate my victory? One of the great crowns of Europe taken for that cost on a dislocated shoulder and a cavarlyman who fell from his horse.
I kicked Vagabond and thrust my sword into the air as he kicked his front legs up. He certainly had a flair for the dramatic. I slowed him to a trot and let the crowd envelop us. I reached into a pouch at his side and retrieved a rose, handing it to a young woman. She swooned, fainting at the excitement. I smiled and waved to the crowd, running my hand through my medium length dirty blonde hair.
The parade seemed to take forever. By the end I was exhausted. I finally arrived at the palace and steped inside. My assistant, Eustice greets me within. "Ran out of flowers, two sacks next time." His reply was sarcastic, "Perhaps if you had not given one to every woman on the route." I laughed, "just the beautiful ones."
"Just one visitor, my king. The new envoy from Sweden. In the reception room." I give him an annoyed look. "Oh come on I've been dealing with people since before sunrise surely I can relax." He nods, "surely, but you will want to meet this one." He gave me one of those shut up and trust me looks.
"Very well then." I pushed into the reception room, the double doors swinging aside as I entered. I adopted a casual tone, "greetings! I apologize for my tardiness the parade was longer than expected." I extended my hand for a handshake. Eustice never provided poor advice, you were exactly who I wanted to meet.
Greetings DPP. Looking for a medieval romance, intrigue and perhaps more plot.
Happy to discuss whatever you like before we start but I am a bi switch so please begin with what character you would like to play.
