[Island contest] Amber Island
Amber island is an island with a massive tree in the center containing a new resource: Amber. The tree itself is sentient and would be a new mid level boss named Arborosia.
Let’s start with what amber is. One of my wishes in runescape is for every skill to have a use. Firemaking sadly currently does not have a use beyond level 50. Amber would be a first step to a solution for this. It can be combined with logs and potions to make incense, an alternative to potions with slightly stronger effects. As a trade off it only has 2 doses instead of 4.
Amber could be used to create the following incenses:
| Ingredients | Effect |
|---|---|
| 1 amber, 1 maple log, 1 dose of superantipoison | Cures poison and provides immunity for 12 minutes. |
| 2 amber, 1 yew log, 1 dose of goading potion | The effects of a goading potion for 12 minutes or the inverse effect for 6 minutes. |
| 2 amber, 1 magic log, 1 dose of magic potion | Increases the magic level of the user by 1 + 10% of the users magic level. |
| 3 amber, 1 redwood log, 1 dose of super combat potion | The effects of a divine super combat potion for 8 minutes instead of 5 |
The incense itself requires the firemaking level of the log to burn.
Amber can be obtained by two methods: mining the amber nodes with 52 mining on Amber island or as a drop from the new boss. The swampy region around the mining spots is infested with Amber tarlings, a variant to the Tar monsters of fossil island.
Arborosia is a boss that does not move, like Duke Sucellus. The boss’ main attack is a mess of roots that travels from him to the player and is either red, green or blue. The player can pray the correct overhead prayer against it.
after 3 attacks it does one of two special attacks.
- It summons 4 of its main attacks to attack the player at once form each cardinal direction offset by 2 ticks
- Spikes grow over ⅓ of the arena which will shoot up and hit everyone in that part for huge damage after 6 ticks. After 3 ticks it also grows these spikes in an adjacent section, thus forcing the player to move to a new section twice in quick succession, a bit like the Akkha circle
Drops:
- Hoop snake boots: Tar monsters are not aggressive to you. The boots have the same stats as swampbark boots, but also give a +3 bonus to range and range defence.
- Firestarter ring: A magic ring that gives +12 magic attack and +.5% magic damage that is upped to 2% magic damage if using fire spells. Thus making it equal to the seers ring (i) in most cases without the defense, but better when using fire spells.
- Also drops amber itself
