timing of workout to reduce flares
Hi! I was diagnosed with POTS by a Cardiologist and a Physical Therapist. If this is relevant I also have hEDS, PMDD. ADHD and dumping syndrome (not from bariatric surgery). I manage my dumping syndrome with a glp-1 to slow down digestion. The dumping syndrome diagnosed through a gastric emptying study.
I have been consistently doing reformer Pilates classes at 8 am for a couple months. I wake up around 6:30. I do 20 minutes of red light therapy and drink a vegan protein shake (I am trying to reteach myself to eat in the morning now that my dumping syndrome nausea and vomiting is better thanks to glp-1). Then I shower and I’m off to Pilates. At Pilates I drink an lmnt drink.
Most of Pilates footwork I’m ok. But then I get to bridging the pressure in my head starts. Then it’s usually really difficult to do any standing. Sometimes I add an extra spring for stability. The hardest part of Pilates is the seeing colors, dots then feeling pressure and dizziness in my head.
I am wondering if maybe I did Pilates in the evening after I had a day of walking it might be better? Maybe early morning the jolt of being in bed all night to now being asked to perform upright movements is rough.
I tend to lift weights in the afternoon and heavy lifting is easier on my POTS than the low impact Pilates.
Sometimes I do a 1 pm classical class and seem to do better.
Does anyone who practices Pilates have a better time of day they do it? Is my theory that maybe I’m going too early tracks?
Thanks! 😊
