white dots appearing uncontrollably on laptop monitor?

i've had the laptop for several years so i'm assuming something in it's giving out. it happens especially when screen content is dark and worsens over time. occasionally screen goes black for a couple seconds when watching a video but i don't know if it's a related problem.

its a msi sword 15 a11. cpu is Core i7-11800H 8 Core. gpu is NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 TI Laptop GPU
