This event finally did it for me

NSFWSpoilerEvent Story Discussion

So, as vague a title as possible but heavy spoilers, final warning.

Holy shit, this is the event that finally makes me like Oswald. I am a relatively new player (only started playing during the last maid event) and I have been lukewarm on him since I played Overzone in the archives. As I'm sure most people who played that on release or haven't played the events afterwards would agree, Overzone is quite the bad first impression on him, since he is the one that essentially locks the goddesses out of heaven.

Then came Red Ash, and my opinion on him didn't change much, if anything it just made him a tragic figure, being a government lapdog that was forced to betray his idols, but nothing much on that front besides the "oh this is gonna go horrendously for everyone involved" feeling whenever he showed up there.

Next came Old Tales (best event story yet, btw) and he gets a little more to his character but again, my opinion on him didn't change much despite the fact that he was a little less uptight and by the book in regards to the Cindichiro situation, it was nice but I didn't jump out of my seat or anything.

There were also some bits and pieces on Arcane Archive with Blue Wife #2 (your mileage may vary) telling the commander that someone that was probably Oswald set up a secret library so that even if nobody would ever know, the actions of the Goddesses wouldn't be fully lost to time. Cute, but it didn't shake me to my core or change my opinion on him, mostly passing it as "oh, he did it out of guild for betraying them".

But now? THIS EVENT?! Now I am really on board with him, the moments with Freesia were cute and I'm a sucker for those "reclutant father" stories and the real reason behind his actions finally being revealed, with him betraying both the Goddesses AND the government so he could ensure his idols had the best chance of survival, that moment you can really feel the weight of his decision and how much it eats him alive that he has to do it.

TL;DR: I didn't like Oswald at first, I like him now. Calling him the goat when Raptillion, Andersen and Platoon Leader exist? Feels a little too much but he is certainly in the conversation.
