Memtest result help.
Hey hoping for some help on a issue im having with an older built pc i got second hand from a friend.
Initially everything was fine, but problems began to mount and have led to having removed the os and checking hardware. (Tried all possible software type solutions, even updated bios firmware)
Question is about memtest results. Computer has 2x16gb ram. I have run several memtests, stick one returns massive errors, i have tested it in both optimized slots on the board, same results. Stick two will return a couple errors, same result in both slots. I know that memtest errors could happen purely from a bad stick, or could be from a cpu issue, or even a board issue. Since a stick performs consistently in either slot, with each stick being consistently different from the other, leads me to believe that my issue is with the sticks themselves. It would seem logical that if the issue was elsewhere, I wouldn't get this consistency of one stick much worse than the other regardless of position.
I'm hoping someone experienced can check my logic here. This is my first time troubleshooting a pc, im a good problem solver in general, but don't know alot about this space, and I dont want to spend money needlessly on ram if a bigger issue is at fault.
I'd really appreciate any insight someone may have.
