CUPE Townhall

Opinion / Discussion

What did everyone think? I liked the candidates starting to differentiate thesmelves and disagree with each other more openly.

Avi addressed some of the criticism of his campaigns and I think he did quite well. When it came to firing back he was decent but I feel like he was a little too direct (particularly when it came to Rob) which could have come off the wrong way, like the Rob video that people were talking about here. I liked hearing more from Tanille and Tony about what sets them apart from the rest of the field, and they brought up a lot of important points from their rural perspective.

To be honest, though, it's quite awkward listening to the frontrunners trying to criticize each other without seeming critical, the fact that it was veiled, indirect, and sometimes downright dog-whistle-y (from both sides) and although I understand the role that ranked choice plays in this I almost wish they would just be forthright about it instead of trying to dance their way around it. (In fact, I almost feel like collective leadership could be an interesting model to explore, even if the jokes would write themselves in that case).
