A post about jetsonmade

Discussion

I know this is not strictly Pierre related, but Jetson went to school with him and I have a consideration about p later too, but in general I think this is a good sub for discussion about rap. I think almost no one remembers Jetson nowadays if not the very few people tapped in with the South Carolina ug scene, so basically no one lol. Yet my argument is that he has had a big and substantial influence on today's rap scene and no one seems to give him any credit for it. I'll make it short, he was the first to use weird 808 sounds and patterns in the mainstream rap scene. I vividly remember people going crazy to find the 808 he used on suge just to make an example. @ meh albeit possibly the most hated on track at release ever of carti's is another great example of him being way ahead of its time experimenting with 808s. Today it is pretty normal that 808s have weird ass patterns, Che's latest album has 808s out of key and spammed and it works. Back then tho it was almost mandatory to have 808s follow the root notes of the melody as it was what the emerging internet money nick Mira sound was doing. In a way id argue pierre too doesn't get the recognition he deserves on his impact on 808s, mileage (just to mention one song) is one of the first instances (to my memory) of 808s playing every fourth, way before tell em by Cochise when people were going crazy about that pattern for example (but one could also talk about the hacked my instagram 808, the r.i.p 808 switch which was one of the first mainstream songs to feature different 808 sounds in the same song etc.). All this to say that Jetson hasn't received the flowers he rightfully deserves; I wouldn't say todays prod are directly inspired by him, not at all, but his sound indirectly definitely influenced the scene in a substantial way. What do you guys think.
