Apartment hunting?

A family member living in Vegas needs to find an apartment soon. Requirements are a 1 BR that will allow a small dog and accept someone with no credit, but easily able to put down a deposit. Any advice on how to search? The online sources are overwhelming. Currently living about 10 miles SW of the strip but flexible.
