Why did Akira Toriyama make Goku 14 years old, later corrected to 12, instead of giving him an age between 6-8 years old, which makes much more sense for Goku's personality and appearance?
To be fair, Goku was probably 11 years old during the initial arc.
Back then, Saiyans didn't exist, so all the nonsense about growth spurts at a certain age isn't a valid answer. Could it be because it was a violent series? So he artificially increased Goku's age to fit the anime's theme?
Akira liked children VERY much, so obviously he knew the difference between a 7-year-old and an 11/12-year-old.
