PCOS & GLP-1

Meds/Supplements

I started glp-1’s when they were first available, paying out of pocket, because of the connection between PCOS and diabetes. At the time I was roughly 15lbs overweight. I’m 48, I played competitive sports until 2020 and until I was in my mid 30’s never had a weight issue. My symptoms were slight excess hair growth on my abdomen, while the hair on my head changed to the texture of baby hair. My periods were never regular and I also have endometriosis. I had a tumor the size of a large grapefruit on my left ovary that I had removed. I had a miscarriage at 29 and never got pregnant again.

At my heaviest I was roughly 180lbs and I’m 5’4”. I’ve always eaten healthy, don’t drink soda, don’t eat sweets and always exercise. I’ve always loved food but rarely ate 3 meals a day. Since starting GLP-1 I eat much more, even bread and pasta which I rarely ate or craved before, and I’m back to my high school weight. I weigh 135lbs and I eat more than when I was running 5 miles a day. I’ve told my dr this and she said, as usual, that I’m a medical mystery. I’m wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Also, all of my other symptoms are gone! I get my period regularly for the first time in my life, at 48 and my hair seems to be getting thicker. I also had my tubes removed right around the same time I started the medication, so luckily I can’t get pregnant now.

Has anyone else experienced this? Eating more with PCOS on GLP-1 & losing weight?
