The Duffers aren't victims
There are a lot of posts now trying to generate sympathy for them which is absurd including fake posts about them being victims of online bullying. They're not victims. The Duffers have stated several times that Netflix has never intervened or attempted to influence their writing.
They're among the most powerful writers in the world.
They turned S3 into a Marvel movie but S4 got the show back on track. They (or the person who wrote the character) turned Eddie into one of the most popular characters on any Netflix show. They dropped hints about a Kas theory. They were given more money for S5 than any showrunner in history. They could have easily continued the S4 story in S5. Instead they spent more time on Will's coming out scene than the battle against the MF and Vecna. Nobody forced them to do that.
They're responsible for destroying the show. Not Netflix executives intervening or exerting influence. They're the only people responsible.
They're very talented writers but they're also arrogant and they have favorites. They decided Schnapp should be the main focus knowing he isn't a good actor. They decided Robin should get more screen time than Eleven because they have been trying to turn Hawke into the breakout star for 3 seasons. They decided the show should be inspired by Schnapp coming out.
A black teenager would endure more abuse and discrimination than a closeted gay boy in the 80s but Lucas was relegated to a "black sidekick for more important white character" role. Eleven, Hopper and Joyce were sidelined while their favorite Hawke was given more screen time which nobody asked for.
The way they talk about Eleven is disgusting. It's the same way they talk about Eddie. They're plot devices for other characters. Their lives have no value. They exist to sacrifice themselves so other people can have a nice happy normal life. POC have been routinely sidelined on the show. They didn't even bother to call Franco to tell him he wasn't in S5.
Most horror shows don't have a female protagonist. Stranger Things appeals to all ages and gender but it has a ton of young girls who are fans. The Duffers know that. They targted the show to young people on purpose after the first season. They spent almost a decade giving people an emotional connection to Eleven. Then in the last season they tossed her aside as if she was yesterday's dinner to focus on a man. They claimed "This story has always been about Will. It began with Will and it ends with Will." Will isn't the heart and soul of the show. I'm sorry but he isn't. He was barely in S1 when the show got famous. Even more offensive than they claim Eleven had to "go away" so men (Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will) can have "normalcy" and a nice life.
Netflix didn't force them to spit on their fans and show contempt for them. They also insulted Eddie fans. Nobody forced them to do that. They couldn't even bother to put Murray and Erica in the Epilogue when they've been on the show since S2. They're not victims.
Eleven is either dead or isolated and scared. She is doomed to spend the rest of her life waiting for the government to find her. If Israelis could find Germans who fled Germany with new identities and even plastic surgery the U.S. government can find Eleven.
The last scene should have been Eleven holding Hopper's hand as she walks into a building to talk to a Washington Post reporter or testifying in Congress about what happened to her.
"I was born in Hawkins Indiana. My mother was lobotomized. I was tortured and abused by people involved in a covert operation for the government. But I survived. My name is Jane and this is my story..."
