What does the path to being a Venture Capitalist look like?

I'm looking at uni degree's and entry level jobs that will act as a strong baseline to one day being a VC. I know this journey isn't straight forward, but I'm curious if any among you have done it/or are seasoned investors who don't have to worry about money.

I have some inheritance that I'm thinking could act as my angel fund but want to build a bit more experience before going down that road.
