Who would you have been most curious to see on their SECOND day in the ER?
For me it’s Santos. She’s such a complex character, and has had the most clashes with both individual other staff and “the way things are done/the chain of command.” But I’m actually a big Santos fan, and I think under her macho posturing, stubbornness, difficulty with authority, low level law breaking, and desperation to make connections with her colleagues through overbearing sarcasm, she has the makings of a very effective and surprisingly empathetic doctor.
Plus, I find her enthusiasm for the technical aspects of her job very endearing - she’s not shy about wanting in on all the cool, weird cases purely for the joy of exploring the intricacies of the human body.
She needs both to be humbled AND to have her confidence boosted, and I think it’s likely that she will approach her second shift with a decent amount of self reflection. Will she screw up a equal amount in the same areas or will she take the opportunity to do some course correcting? I would be very interested to find out.
