Best controller

What everyone recommendation for FS game controller. I've gotten comfortable with keyboard and mouse but would like something that better for machinery operation. To me a console controller is great for hydraulic controls such as loaders or grapples. However driving or field work is touchy or no better than the keyboard. Is a steering wheel worth the cost?
