Engagement Ring Mishap
Hello all,
The other day I had a mishap with my engagement ring. While I was vacuuming, I accidentally vacuumed my ring. I will be honest, I cried quite a bit. Now I am having mixed feelings. We got my ring from a pawn shop for a pretty low price, and after asking a jeweler for a quote to repair the ring they quoted more than I paid for the ring (not their fault I am sure).
I think I mostly got the ring I did because of the price and because it was the prettiest one there and fit me almost perfectly. I do have an emotional attachment because it is the ring he proposed with (we picked together, but he wanted to surprise me with a proposal). I did like the ring but now I am wondering- do I get the ring repaired, or do I spend a couple hundred more and get a new nicer ring?
I went to the store that I got my wedding band from and I saw a few engagement rings that I liked- the lady even said they could tell me how much they would give us for the other (vacuumed) ring if we wanted to help with the cost. She said they could work with us on whatever budget we looked at.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? What would you do? Should I look at other local places and see what they have? Any viewpoints here would be appreciated. Thanks!
